Urgent call
Rings your phone when the same number calls twice in a few minutes, even on silent or vibrate. Free, ad-free, and entirely on your own phone: no account, no sign-up, no server.
What it does
- Rings for the second call. When a number that called in the last few minutes (5, 10, 15 or 30 — you choose) calls again, Urgent plays your ringtone at your alarm volume and vibrates. If Android won’t let it read your ringtone, it plays your alarm sound instead. The first call stays as quiet as you set it. You can choose the callers it rings for, or turn on Everyone in your contacts or Starred contacts; until you choose one of those, it rings for anyone.
- Only when your phone would not. With the ringer on, your phone rings by itself and Urgent stays quiet. In Do Not Disturb it rings only if alarms are allowed, and stays quiet when your phone already lets the call ring, under its repeat-callers rule or for everyone. If Do Not Disturb lets only your contacts, or only starred ones, through, Urgent stays quiet for those while you have Everyone in your contacts or Starred contacts chosen, since your phone rings for them anyway. With neither chosen, Urgent does not look them up, so it can ring for them too, even when your phone rings too.
- Leaves your settings alone. Urgent never changes your ringer mode, ring volume or Do Not Disturb. A Silence button in the notification stops it.
- Keeps running, if you ask. Run in the background keeps Urgent running with a quiet notification, so Android does not stop it between calls. It runs only while Ring for repeated calls is on, and it starts again after a reboot or an update.
What it cannot do
Urgent cannot tell why someone is calling: two calls in a row ring whether they matter or not, and a single call stays silent however important it is. A hidden number cannot be matched, so it never rings through. Battery optimisation can keep it from ringing in the background, and on Xiaomi phones a switched-off autostart stops it hearing about a call at all.
Urgent is a second chance, not a guarantee. If you must not miss a call, keep your ringer on.
Your data stays on your phone
Urgent does not request internet access. It reads the last few minutes of your call log at the moment a call rings, compares one number, and keeps nothing. With Everyone in your contacts or Starred contacts chosen, it also checks a repeated call’s number against your contacts, and keeps nothing. The details are in the Privacy Policy.
